Goofy Goober’s is not just another quick service restaurant inside Universal Kids Resort. For SpongeBob SquarePants fans, it is one of the most recognizable places in Bikini Bottom and one of the dining locations kids are most likely to notice before parents have even opened the menu.
After several visits to Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, our team has officially worked through the full Goofy Goober’s menu. We tried every entrée, every dessert, the specialty drink, and several side options so we could answer the question families are really asking:
Is Goofy Goober’s actually worth eating at, or is it mostly about the SpongeBob theming?
The honest answer is a little bit of both.
Goofy Goober’s may not serve our favorite overall meal at Universal Kids Resort, but it delivers one of the most memorable restaurant experiences in the park. The colorful setting, familiar food, movie connections, and completely over the top desserts make it a place most SpongeBob fans will want to experience at least once.
Is Goofy Goober’s Worth It?
Yes, especially for SpongeBob fans and families who want one of the park’s most memorable dining experiences.
The food is generally solid, with several dependable options for kids and adults. However, Goofy Goober’s stands out more for its setting, theme, and desserts than for having the strongest entrées in the park.
For our favorite overall meals, we would probably choose Comidas y Leche in Puss in Boots Del Mar or Jurassic Camp Canteen in Jurassic World Adventure Camp.
For the restaurant our kids are most likely to remember, Goofy Goober’s is much harder to beat.
Why Goofy Goober’s Is Such a Big Deal
Families who grew up watching SpongeBob SquarePants probably do not need an explanation. For everyone else, Goofy Goober’s is more than a colorful ice cream shop with a funny name.
Within the world of SpongeBob SquarePants, Goofy Goober’s is one of SpongeBob’s favorite places to hang out. It combines the feel of an old fashioned ice cream parlor, an arcade, and a family entertainment center where being loud, silly, and a little ridiculous is part of the experience.
The restaurant became especially famous through The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and the unforgettable “Goofy Goober Rock” sequence near the end of the film.
That connection gives the restaurant a level of built in excitement that a standard theme park burger location would not have. Universal did not simply put a SpongeBob sign over a food counter. It recreated a destination fans already recognize and want to step inside.
Even families who are not deeply familiar with the movie will understand the appeal once they see the towering ice cream creations, bright colors, and Goofy Goober details throughout the restaurant.
Our Honest Take on Goofy Goober’s
Goofy Goober’s is one of the signature dining experiences at Universal Kids Resort, but it is not automatically the best choice for every family.
The entrées are familiar and approachable. You will find burgers, chicken tenders, hot dogs, grilled chicken, and a surprisingly good salad. That makes it easy to find something for selective eaters without spending half the afternoon negotiating over lunch.
The restaurant’s real strength, however, is dessert.
Even when we choose to eat our main meal somewhere else, Goofy Goober’s is still one of our favorite places to stop for an afternoon treat. The sundaes are colorful, excessive, highly shareable, and completely appropriate for SpongeBob’s favorite hangout.
This is not subtle food. It is Goofy Goober food.
The Best Time to Eat at Goofy Goober’s
During our July 2026 visits, Goofy Goober’s opened at 11:00 a.m. and did not serve breakfast.
We arrived shortly after opening during one visit, and by approximately 11:30 a.m., nearly every indoor table was occupied. Families visiting a park designed for younger children often eat lunch earlier than crowds at larger theme parks, so the restaurant can become busy surprisingly quickly.
When we checked again between approximately 1:00 and 1:30 p.m., the lunch crowd had thinned and seating was easier to find.
For the best chance of getting an indoor table, we recommend:
- Arriving when the restaurant opens at 11:00 a.m.
- Waiting until after the main lunch rush, usually after 1:00 p.m.
- Having one adult look for a table while another adult handles the food order, when possible
Exact crowd patterns can vary by day, but we would not wait until noon and expect the restaurant to feel quiet.
Indoor and Outdoor Seating
Indoor seating is somewhat limited when you consider how popular Goofy Goober’s can be.
The dining room provides a chance to cool down, enjoy the restaurant’s details, and take a longer break from touring Bikini Bottom. However, tables can fill quickly during the early lunch rush.
There is also a covered outdoor seating area with ceiling fans. We were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it felt, even during the Texas summer. It is still outdoor seating, but the shade and air movement make a noticeable difference.
Families planning a summer visit should not automatically dismiss the patio, especially when the indoor dining room is crowded.
You Can Order Dessert Separately
You do not have to stand in the full meal line just to order ice cream.
Goofy Goober’s has a dedicated dessert and ice cream counter, making it much easier to stop for a sundae without committing to a full lunch. This is especially useful during the afternoon when you want a cold treat but do not want to lose a large portion of your park day.
It also makes Goofy Goober’s a practical dessert stop even when you choose another restaurant for your main meal.
Goofy Goober’s Entrée Reviews
The Goofy Gooburger
Price during our visit: $13.99
The Goofy Gooburger includes American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and Goofy Goober Secret Sauce on a toasted bun. It is served with crinkle cut fries.
This is exactly what we want from a dependable theme park burger. It tasted fresh, was filling without being excessively heavy, and was a noticeable step above many basic burgers we have eaten at other parks.
It is not the most unusual item on the Goofy Goober’s menu, but that may be part of its appeal. Families with picky eaters sometimes need lunch to be predictable.
The burger still does not beat the Bacon Jam Burger at Curiosity Cafe inside the Universal Kids Resort Hotel, which remains our favorite burger at the resort. However, we would happily order the Goofy Gooburger again.
Good to know: The burger comes with American cheese by default. Ask for it without cheese when ordering if that is your preference.
Our verdict: A dependable choice and one of the better entrées at Goofy Goober’s.
Chum Bucket Tendies
Price during our visit: $7.99
The Chum Bucket Tendies are crispy chicken tenders served with your choice of Karen’s Sweet BBQ Sauce or Gochujang BBQ Sauce.
These were one of the biggest surprises on the menu.
The tenders were hot, crispy, and tasted freshly prepared. One of our kids actually preferred them over the chicken tenders served at Curiosity Cafe because the coating was noticeably crispier.
For younger children or guests who prefer milder flavors, Karen’s Sweet BBQ Sauce is the safer choice. Older kids and adults who enjoy more heat may prefer the Gochujang BBQ Sauce.
The portion also makes this one of the more affordable meal options at the restaurant.
Our verdict: One of the best choices for kids and a stronger option than we expected.
Mussel Beach Hot Dog
Price during our visit: $7.99
The Mussel Beach Hot Dog is a grilled Nathan’s all beef hot dog served with crinkle cut fries.
Optional toppings available during our visit included:
- Frito Chili for an additional $2.49
- Tostitos Nacho Cheese Sauce for an additional $1.99
This was another pleasant surprise.
The hot dog tasted fresh, the bun was lightly toasted, and one of our kids happily finished the entire meal. I personally prefer a softer hot dog bun, but that is completely a matter of preference rather than a problem with the food.
For families who want something simple, familiar, and unlikely to cause a lunchtime debate, the Mussel Beach Hot Dog is an easy recommendation.
Our verdict: A reliable and affordable kid friendly lunch.
Aye, Aye Chicken Sandwich
Price during our visit: $12.99
The Aye, Aye Chicken Sandwich includes a grilled chicken breast with bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and herb mayonnaise on a toasted bun.
This ended up being our least favorite entrée at Goofy Goober’s.
It was not bad. In fact, it was still better than many dry grilled chicken sandwiches we have encountered at theme parks. The problem is that it simply did not have much flavor compared to the other menu options.
The herb mayonnaise was not strong enough to make the sandwich memorable, and the grilled chicken needed something extra.
A side of Karen’s Sweet BBQ Sauce or Gochujang BBQ Sauce made a noticeable improvement.
Our verdict: Not terrible, but there are better ways to spend your lunch budget.
Humala Bebulah Zeebuhla Chop Salad
Price during our visit: $13.99
The Humala Bebulah Zeebuhla Chop Salad includes grilled chicken over a blend of Napa cabbage and romaine lettuce with tomatoes, bacon, blue cheese crumbles, radish, cucumber, crispy beet strips, and lime dressing.
After eating several heavier theme park meals, this was exactly what I wanted.
The vegetables tasted impressively fresh, and the lime dressing made the salad feel light and refreshing on a hot afternoon. The crispy beet strips added texture without making the salad feel overly complicated.
I would have preferred a little more grilled chicken for the price, but this was still one of the better theme park salads we have tried.
Guests can choose lime dressing or ranch. The salad also includes blue cheese crumbles, so ask for those to be removed when ordering if you are not a fan.
Our verdict: One of the best adult entrées at Goofy Goober’s and our top recommendation for a lighter meal.
Cheese Fries
Price during our visit: $5.99
The fries served throughout Universal Kids Resort are generally very good. They are hot, crispy, and crinkle cut, which is almost always the correct shape for a theme park fry.
Unfortunately, the cheese fries were not worth the additional cost.
There was not enough nacho cheese to justify paying extra, especially when regular fries are already included with several entrées.
Guests determined to order them may have better luck asking for the cheese on the side. That would make it easier to dip each fry instead of hoping the limited amount of cheese reaches the entire serving.
Our verdict: Skip them and put the money toward dessert.
Healthier Side Options
One practical detail we appreciated is that many meals can be customized with a different side.
Instead of fries, guests may be able to request:
- Carrot sticks
- Apple slices
- Applesauce
- Yogurt
Goofy Goober’s does not rely on a completely separate children’s menu. Instead, families can choose from several familiar entrées and adjust the side to better match their child’s preferences.
Side availability may vary, so ask when ordering.
Goofy Goober’s Dessert Reviews
Even when you decide to eat lunch somewhere else, Goofy Goober’s is still worth visiting for dessert.
This is the part of the menu that best captures the restaurant’s personality. The sundaes are colorful, sweet, ridiculous, and clearly designed to be photographed before anyone takes the first bite.
Triple Gooberberry Sunrise
Sundae only during our visit: $8.99
Collectible Goober Cup: $11.99
Sundae and cup combination: $21.99
Our team was divided over which dessert deserved the top spot, but the Triple Gooberberry Sunrise ultimately won.
The sundae includes ice cream, strawberry Dole soft serve, chocolate fudge, cookie crumble, whipped topping, banana, a cherry, and pieces of strawberry Pop Tarts.
There is a lot happening in one cup, but that is exactly the point.
The combination of chocolate, strawberry, banana, cookie crumble, and Pop Tarts makes the Triple Gooberberry Sunrise feel like something SpongeBob would genuinely order. It is colorful, chaotic, and fun to share.
The most important thing to know is that you do not have to purchase the collectible cup to order the dessert. The sundae is available by itself for $8.99, which makes it much easier to enjoy the treat without paying souvenir pricing.
The collectible cup is cute, but the dessert is the star.
Our verdict: The best dessert at Goofy Goober’s and the one item we would consider a must try.
Double Chocolate Molar Blowout
Price during our visit: $7.99
The Double Chocolate Molar Blowout combines chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream with chocolate fudge, crushed s’mores cookies, and mini M&M’s.
This is the safest dessert choice for chocolate lovers.
It does not have the same visual chaos as the Triple Gooberberry Sunrise, but the flavors work well together and the cookie pieces add a good amount of texture.
It is also easier to predict what you are getting. Chocolate, cookies, candy, and ice cream rarely require a lengthy explanation.
Our verdict: A strong dessert and one we would order again.
Mt. Razzelberries
Price during our visit: $7.99
Mt. Razzelberries includes strawberry Dole soft serve, vanilla swirl, strawberry sauce, and pieces of strawberry Pop Tarts.
This dessert is very sweet, even by Goofy Goober’s standards.
The Pop Tart pieces softened quickly as they sat in the ice cream. I was not personally a fan of that texture, although Jason enjoyed it.
Families who love strawberry desserts and do not mind a very sweet treat may enjoy it more than we did. It is fun and colorful, but we would choose the Triple Gooberberry Sunrise on our next visit.
Our verdict: Fun for serious strawberry fans, but not our top choice.
Pineapple Fizzy Mocktail
Price during our visit: $7.99
The Pineapple Fizzy Mocktail is made with Fanta Pineapple, orange and green apple bursting boba, and whipped topping.
It is exactly as sweet as that description suggests.
The kids loved it.
Every adult on our team said, “Pass.”
That does not mean it is a bad drink. It means the audience for this drink is very specific. Guests who enjoy intensely sweet sodas, fruit flavors, whipped topping, and popping boba will probably think it is great.
Guests looking for something light or refreshing on a hot Texas afternoon will probably want something else.
Our verdict: Perfectly at home at Goofy Goober’s, but best for kids and devoted sweet drink fans.
What We Would Order Again
When we return to Goofy Goober’s, these are the items most likely to make it onto our table.
Humala Bebulah Zeebuhla Chop Salad
This is our choice when we want something lighter, fresh, and easier to eat during a hot park day.
The Goofy Gooburger
It is a dependable, satisfying burger that works well for both adults and older kids.
Chum Bucket Tendies
The tenders were crispier and fresher than we expected, and they are one of the easiest recommendations for children.
Triple Gooberberry Sunrise
A visit to Goofy Goober’s does not feel complete without at least one excessive ice cream creation, and this is the best one.
What We Would Skip
Aye, Aye Chicken Sandwich
The sandwich was not terrible, but it lacked the flavor and personality of the other entrées. Ask for barbecue sauce when ordering it.
Cheese Fries
The regular fries are good. The small amount of cheese did not justify the additional cost.
Who Should Eat at Goofy Goober’s?
Goofy Goober’s is a particularly good fit for:
- Families with SpongeBob fans
- Children who prefer familiar foods
- Guests looking for burgers, hot dogs, or chicken tenders

Final Verdict
Goofy Goober’s is not our top restaurant at Universal Kids Resort based on entrées alone. For our favorite full meals, Comidas y Leche and Jurassic Camp Canteen still come out ahead.
But restaurant reviews are not only about which plate technically tastes best.
Goofy Goober’s offers something those restaurants cannot. It lets families step inside one of SpongeBob SquarePants’ most familiar locations, order a wildly excessive sundae, and enjoy a meal their kids may continue talking about after the trip is over.
The Goofy Gooburger, Chum Bucket Tendies, Mussel Beach Hot Dog, and Humala Bebulah Zeebuhla Chop Salad are all solid choices. The Triple Gooberberry Sunrise is the standout item and one of the most memorable desserts at Universal Kids Resort.
For the best experience, arrive when the restaurant opens or wait until after the early lunch crowd. Eat somewhere else when food quality is your only priority, but do not leave Bikini Bottom without at least stopping by the dessert counter.
Goofy Goober’s is colorful, goofy, slightly excessive, and completely committed to the theme.
In other words, it is exactly what it should be.
