Universal Orlando Resort has announced the dates and full artist lineup for Rock the Universe 2027, bringing one of the country’s largest Christian music festivals back to Universal Studios Florida on January 22 and 23, 2027.
This year’s lineup includes some major names in contemporary Christian music, including Elevation Worship, Josiah Queen, Jamie MacDonald, CAIN, Katy Nichole, Benjamin William Hastings and Megan Woods.
Tickets and vacation packages are scheduled to go on sale Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
For families considering a Universal Orlando trip this winter, Rock the Universe can turn an ordinary park weekend into something very different. Instead of simply visiting the parks during the day, families can spend the evening seeing Christian artists perform throughout Universal Studios Florida, fit in select attractions between concerts, and wrap up the weekend with a Sunday morning worship service.
And for families with tweens and teens, this may be one of Universal Orlando’s most interesting special events of the year.
When Is Rock the Universe 2027?
Rock the Universe will take place at Universal Studios Florida on Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23, 2027.
A Sunday morning worship service is also planned for January 24, serving as the finale to the weekend. Universal has not yet released the exact schedule or additional details for the service.
Rock the Universe is a separately ticketed Christian music event rather than something automatically included with regular daytime park admission.
Rock the Universe 2027 Full Lineup
Universal has announced 18 artists divided between Friday and Saturday night.
| Friday, January 22 | Saturday, January 23 |
|---|---|
| Elevation Worship | Josiah Queen |
| Jamie MacDonald | Katy Nichole |
| Rave Jesus | Franni Cash |
| Benjamin William Hastings | CAIN |
| Strings & Heart | Megan Woods |
| 1K Phew | gio. |
| Joseph O’Brien | Peter Burton |
| Maddi Jane | Sam Wesley |

Universal has not yet announced individual performance times, so families choosing a single night should pay close attention to which artists are scheduled for each date.
If Elevation Worship or Jamie MacDonald are at the top of your family’s list, Friday is the night to watch.
If your kids are hoping to see Josiah Queen, Katy Nichole or CAIN, those artists are scheduled for Saturday.
Families who want both lineups may want to compare the full weekend ticket options once pricing is released.
What Exactly Is Rock the Universe?
Rock the Universe combines a Christian music festival with an evening inside Universal Studios Florida.
Concert performances and worship experiences take place around the park while select Universal Studios Florida attractions continue operating.
Universal has specifically named Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Revenge of the Mummy, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Illumination’s Villain Con Minion Blast and Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallonamong the attractions guests may be able to experience during the event.
That creates a pretty unusual theme park night.
You could potentially go from an Elevation Worship concert to escaping Gringotts and then back to another performance.
Not exactly your average Friday night.
Is Rock the Universe Good for Families?
For the right family, absolutely.
I think the real sweet spot for Rock the Universe is probably families with older elementary kids, tweens and teens who already listen to Christian music.
Those ages can sometimes be difficult when planning family travel. They have outgrown some children’s entertainment, but parents may not necessarily be looking for an event designed primarily for adults either.
Rock the Universe sits nicely in the middle.
You get major Christian artists your kids may already recognize, the excitement of being inside Universal Studios Florida after dark, and enough attractions mixed into the evening to break up the concert schedule.
That does not mean I would recommend it equally for every family.
If you have very young children who don’t know the performers, I would not build an entire Universal vacation around Rock the Universe simply because it happens to be taking place during your trip. This is still a nighttime music festival with crowds, loud concerts and potentially very long days if you visit the theme parks beforehand.
For tweens and teens who are genuinely excited about the lineup, though, it could be a fantastic family weekend.
Rock the Universe Tickets Go on Sale September 15
Universal says single night tickets and Rock Your Weekend tickets will go on sale beginning September 15.
The Rock Your Weekend option is designed for guests who want to combine Rock the Universe with daytime theme park visits. Universal says the ticket will include access to Rock the Universe festivities throughout the weekend along with daytime access to Universal theme parks.
There is one important detail we are watching.
Universal has not yet published the complete 2027 ticket inclusions or pricing, and the announcement does not specify exactly which parks will be included with the Rock Your Weekend ticket.
That matters quite a bit now that Universal Orlando Resort includes Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay and Epic Universe.
Until Universal releases the actual ticket terms on September 15, we would not assume that Epic Universe is included simply because the ticket description references Universal’s theme parks.
We will be watching the ticket details when sales open.
Could You Build a Full Universal Orlando Vacation Around Rock the Universe?
This is where the event gets especially interesting.
A family could potentially spend Friday and Saturday exploring Universal Orlando during the day and attend Rock the Universe at night, then finish the weekend with the Sunday morning service.
And with Epic Universe now part of Universal Orlando, there is much more to fill a multiday vacation than there was only a few years ago.
The trick will be pacing.
Trying to spend an entire day in a theme park and then attend concerts late into the evening for two consecutive nights can be a lot, particularly with younger kids.
For families doing the full weekend, we would be tempted to treat Rock the Universe days a little differently from normal rope drop to park close touring days. Sleep later, build in some downtime, choose a few daytime priorities and save some energy for the event.
Your teenagers may claim they can go from park opening until the final concert without stopping.
They are teenagers. Their confidence is not necessarily evidence.
Should You Choose Friday or Saturday?
If you are only attending one night, start with the artists.
Friday, January 22 has Elevation Worship, Jamie MacDonald, Rave Jesus and Benjamin William Hastings among its lineup.
Saturday, January 23 includes Josiah Queen, Katy Nichole, Franni Cash, CAIN and Megan Woods.
There is no universally better night. The value really depends on which artists your family wants to see.
If several of your favorites are split between the two nights, that is when the Rock Your Weekend option becomes much more appealing.
What We Are Still Waiting to Learn
Universal’s first announcement gives families the dates and the entire concert lineup, but several important planning details are still coming.
We are waiting for 2027 ticket prices, the exact Rock Your Weekend park inclusions, event hours, individual concert times, Sunday service information and any additional ticket or package options.
Those details should begin becoming clearer when tickets go on sale September 15.
Our Take
Rock the Universe is one of those events that can make a Universal Orlando trip feel completely different from a standard theme park vacation.
And unlike many theme park special events that skew either toward very young children or adults, this one has an especially strong case for families traveling with tweens and teens.
The 2027 lineup is also strong enough that families who already listen to Christian music may want to consider planning a weekend around it rather than simply treating the concerts as a bonus.
Just don’t purchase a vacation package based on assumptions about which parks are included.
With Epic Universe now part of the Universal Orlando equation, the fine print on that Rock Your Weekend ticket matters more than ever.
Rock the Universe 2027 takes place January 22 and 23 at Universal Studios Florida, with a Sunday morning service on January 24. Tickets and vacation packages go on sale September 15, 2026.
