If you’re planning a trip to Universal Kids Resort, you’ve probably asked yourself one simple question:
Do we really need to bring a stroller?
The answer might surprise you.
While Universal Kids Resort is much smaller than many traditional theme parks, we still recommend bringing a stroller if your child is young enough to comfortably ride in one. It’s not just about getting from ride to ride. A stroller quickly becomes one of the most useful pieces of gear you’ll bring to the park.
Here’s everything you need to know before your visit.
Are strollers allowed at Universal Kids Resort?
Yes! Guests are welcome to bring their own strollers to Universal Kids Resort.
The park also allows stroller wagons and traditional wagons, making it easy for families with multiple young children to bring the setup that works best for them.
At this time, Universal Kids Resort has not published any stroller or wagon size restrictions.
Do you actually need a stroller?
Our answer is yes, especially for toddlers and preschoolers.
Some families assume that because Universal Kids Resort isn’t as large as other theme parks, they can leave the stroller at home.
We wouldn’t.
Even though the park has a smaller footprint, you’ll still spend hours:
- Walking on hot pavement
- Standing in attraction queues
- Exploring play areas
- Carrying snacks, water bottles, souvenirs, and extra clothes
- Moving from attraction to attraction throughout the day
Little legs can get tired much faster than parents expect.
A stroller gives your child a comfortable place to rest, especially during the hottest part of the day or while you’re making your way across the park.
Your stroller becomes your family’s “base camp”
One of the biggest reasons we recommend bringing a stroller has nothing to do with your child riding in it.
It’s storage.
Instead of carrying everything on your shoulders all day, your stroller becomes your family’s mobile base camp.
We typically use ours to hold:
- Water bottles
- Cooling towels
- Sunscreen
- Hats
- Ponchos
- Swimwear and towels for splash areas
- Snacks
- Souvenirs
- Extra clothes
- Small backpack or diaper bag
Trust us…your back will thank you.
If you’re on the fence, bring it.
This is our philosophy for almost every theme park.
Bring the stroller.
Worst case?
Your child walks most of the day and the stroller becomes a convenient place to store all of your family’s gear.
Best case?
Your child has a comfortable place to rest when they inevitably get tired, and everyone enjoys a happier day.
We’ve never heard a parent say, “I wish we hadn’t brought the stroller.”
We have heard plenty say the opposite.
Renting a stroller at Universal Kids Resort
Don’t have room to bring your own? Renting is a great option.
Universal Kids Resort currently offers:
- Double stroller rentals
- Starting at $15 per day (including tax) (prices subject to change)
- Pre-booking available online
- Subject to availability
If you’re flying into Dallas or simply don’t have extra room in your vehicle, renting can make your trip much easier.
Can you keep your rental stroller overnight?
No.
Rental strollers must be returned before leaving the park, even if you’re staying at the Universal Kids Resort hotel.
If you leave the park during the day and plan to come back, be sure to keep your rental confirmation or receipt. You’ll need it to check out another stroller when you return.
Bring your own or rent one?
Here’s our recommendation.
Bring your own if:
- You’re driving to the park.
- Your child already has a favorite stroller.
- You own a stroller wagon.
- You’re visiting for multiple days.
- You want a stroller before and after your park visit.
Rent one if:
- You’re flying into town.
- You don’t have room in your vehicle.
- You only need a stroller for one day.
- You don’t own a stroller anymore but know your child may need occasional breaks.
Both options work well. It simply depends on your family’s travel style.
Two stroller tips we never visit a theme park without
1. Make your stroller easy to spot.
After an hour in the stroller parking area, every black stroller starts looking exactly the same.
Tie on a colorful ribbon, bandana, luggage tag, or personalized sign to make yours easy to recognize from a distance.
It saves time and eliminates a lot of second guessing.
2. Hide an AirTag inside.
This might be our favorite parenting hack.
No, we’re not worried someone is going to steal our stroller.
We’re worried about ourselves.
It’s surprisingly easy to forget exactly where you parked it after hopping off a ride or spending time in a play area. (Ask us how we know. 😂)
An AirTag lets you pull up its location in seconds instead of wandering around wondering, “Was it over here…or over there?”
Our final recommendation
If your child is still stroller age, we’d bring one.
Universal Kids Resort may be designed especially for families with younger children, but that also means long days of walking, playing, waiting in line, and carrying everything your family needs.
Even if your child only rides in the stroller for part of the day, you’ll appreciate having a comfortable place for them to rest and a convenient place to stash all of your gear.
Sometimes the stroller isn’t for the kids.
Sometimes it’s for the parents.
And that’s okay.
