Tucked inside the Isle of Curiosity near Gabby’s Dollhouse, Cakey’s Cupcakes is one of the cutest snack stops at Universal Kids Resort.
The cupcakes are served from a small pastel camper surrounded by colorful landscaping and outdoor tables beneath large fabric shade sails. Gabby may even appear nearby for one of her dance shows while you are enjoying your dessert, which makes the whole area feel especially lively.
The camper serves only three cupcakes, each priced at $9.95. All three are oversized, generously frosted, extremely sweet, and decorated with colorful sprinkles and a glittery edible character topper.

Cakey Cat Cupcake
The Cakey Cat cupcake is a large confetti cupcake filled with loose rainbow sprinkles. It is topped with a thick swirl of sweet sugar icing, covered with even more rainbow sprinkles, and finished with a glittery edible topper featuring Cakey Cat.
Once you cut into the cupcake, the rainbow sprinkles spill out of the center. It is colorful, fun, and easily the messiest cupcake of the three.
It is also very sweet. Adults who prefer less sugary desserts may be satisfied after only a few bites, but the children in our group overwhelmingly chose Cakey Cat as their favorite.
That popularity appears to extend beyond our group. Cakey Cat is usually the first flavor to sell out. During our visit around 2 p.m., only a few remained, and the team member expected them to be gone within the hour.

Pandy Paws Cupcake
The Pandy Paws cupcake is a cookies and cream cupcake filled with chocolate ganache. It is topped with sweet sugar icing, chocolate sprinkles, and a glittery edible topper featuring Pandy Paws.
The chocolate ganache gives the cupcake a rich center and helps balance some of the sweetness from the icing. It is still a very sweet dessert, but the cookies and cream flavor gives it a little more depth than the sprinkle-filled Cakey Cat.
Pandy Paws was the leading choice among the adults in our group, especially those who preferred chocolate over fruity or confetti flavors.
Pillow Cat Cupcake
The Pillow Cat cupcake features a brightly colored rainbow cake with an orange cream flavor. It is topped with sweet sugar icing, colorful sprinkles, and a glittery edible topper featuring Pillow Cat.
The orange flavor definitely comes through, but it is not overpowering. It adds a noticeable citrus flavor without feeling like you have been hit over the head with an orange. However, if you do not enjoy orange-flavored desserts, this is probably the cupcake to skip.
Pillow Cat has the brightest and most vividly colored cake of the three. The rainbow swirls make it especially fun to cut into, but the brightly colored cake, icing, and sprinkles also make it another messy choice.
The adults in our group were fairly divided between Pillow Cat and Pandy Paws. Pandy Paws narrowly came out ahead, while the children remained firmly committed to Cakey Cat.
What Do the Cupcakes Taste Like?
All three cupcakes tasted fresh and were not dry, which is always a concern with heavily decorated theme park desserts. We would have preferred the cake to be slightly softer and more moist, but none of the cupcakes tasted stale.
The sugar icing is thick, generous, and very sweet. These are definitely cupcakes for people who genuinely enjoy sugary desserts. One cupcake can easily be shared by two adults or divided among several younger children.
A Note About the Glittery Toppers
Each cupcake is finished with a large edible character disc decorated with iridescent edible glitter.
The toppers make the cupcakes extremely cute and very photo-worthy. They add a lot to the presentation, although no one in our group particularly enjoyed their flavor. They are edible, but we treated them more like decoration than the best part of the cupcake.

Cakey’s Cupcakes can sell out, and the camper may close once the day’s supply is gone. We visited several times before finally finding all three cupcakes available.
If trying one is important to you, stop by in the morning or shortly after lunch. Do not assume the cupcakes will still be available late in the afternoon.
The camper sells cupcakes only, so you will need to get drinks elsewhere. Universal Kids Resort Cafe is a short walk away and offers coffee, iced coffee, milk, juice, and Coca-Cola Freestyle drinks. It is also a good place to grab forks and extra napkins if you plan to share.
There are plenty of tables nearby beneath the large, colorful shade sails. The seating is still outdoors, but the shade makes it a comfortable place to stop and enjoy your cupcake.
