Universal Kids Resort is celebrating its first Halloween season with seasonal entertainment, trick or treating, interactive activities, colorful decorations and more!

We’ve visited several times since Halloween began on October 2, and Universal has continued adding new experiences throughout the month.

Here’s what families can expect, what’s new, and our honest thoughts on the celebration so far.

Halloween at Universal Kids Resort

Halloween begins as soon as you enter the Isle of Curiosity, where festive music, colorful decorations, costumed team members and seasonal entertainment create a playful atmosphere.

The celebration is concentrated almost entirely in the Isle of Curiosity rather than throughout the park’s themed lands.

For a regional theme park designed for younger children, we think the scale is appropriate. The activities are charming, family friendly and included with regular park admission.

However, Universal has continued introducing new elements throughout the season, so the experience looks a little different now than it did during opening weekend.

Halloween Decorations and New Pumpkin Activities

The centerpiece of the celebration is an enormous pumpkin featuring the Universal Kids Resort emblem. Located behind the seasonal entertainment stage, it’s an excellent family photo opportunity.

Universal has also recently added two interactive activities that are worth seeking out.

Create Your Pumpkin

Located directly in front of Universal Kids Resort Cafe, Create Your Pumpkin features three oversized pumpkin chalkboards where children can draw their own jack-o’-lantern faces.

Chalk is provided, and kids can pose for photos with their creations.

It’s a simple, creative activity that younger children will especially enjoy.

Colorful Pumpkin Display and Pumpkin Drums

On the opposite side of the Isle of Curiosity, you’ll find colorful jack-o’-lanterns, a large Universal Kids Resort pumpkin and interactive pumpkin drums children can play.

This is another adorable photo spot, with nearby tables where families can relax or enjoy a snack from Cakey’s Cupcakes.

Family Quest Tip: Both activities sit off the main walkway. Take time to explore both sides of the Isle of Curiosity so you don’t miss them!

Universal Monster Tots: Superfan Spooktacular

One of our favorite Halloween additions is Universal Monster Tots: Superfan Spooktacular, an approximately 12-minute stage show featuring four performers representing fans of Monster Tots characters Elle, Frankie, Woof and Vinnie.

The production combines singing, dancing, audience participation and playful Halloween music, including “Weird Science.”

It’s energetic without being too intense for younger children, and the giant pumpkin makes a fantastic backdrop.

Multiple performances are offered throughout the day, but exact times may vary. Check the showtime board near the stage when you arrive.

During rainy weather, the show may move indoors to the UKR Theater, as we experienced during opening weekend.

Gabby’s Halloween Dance Procession

Gabby brings Halloween fun to the Isle of Curiosity with a special seasonal dance procession.

Children dance along as Gabby leads them around the area before returning to her regular character greeting location.

It’s not a traditional parade with floats or a large character lineup, but it’s an adorable interactive experience, particularly for younger Gabby fans.

Costumes are not required to participate.

Check the entertainment board for the next scheduled appearance.

Trick for Treat: Six Halloween Candy Stations

Six Trick for Treat stations are located around the Isle of Curiosity, offering simple carnival style activities and Halloween candy.

Games include ring toss, Plinko and magnetic pumpkin fishing. The activities are designed for younger children, although our older kids enjoyed them too!

Children may receive a Halloween treat bag when entering the park. If not, bags are available by asking team members at the stations. Families may also bring their own bags.

We’ve found team members generous with candy, and children have been able to revisit stations during our experiences, although procedures may vary.

Trick for Treat Hours

Confirmed weekday hours: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

We’ve observed stations operating later on weekends, but the regular weekend schedule remains unconfirmed.

If trick or treating is important to your family, check the schedule when you arrive.

Food allergy tip: Candy selections vary, and team members may not ask about allergies. Speak with a team member before accepting candy if your child has dietary restrictions. We have not confirmed whether alternative treats are available.

Halloween Food and Treats: Where Are They?

This is one area where we’re still a little disappointed!

As of October 9, we haven’t found much in the way of specialty Halloween food.

We did discover two adorable Halloween sugar cookies: a black cat at Universal Kids Resort Cafe and a ghost at Curiosity Cafe inside the hotel.

Both cost $5.99 and feature essentially the same sugar cookie in different designs.

Our verdict?

They’re adorable but relatively small for the price, and the flavor is fairly average.

Other seasonal touches include Halloween sprinkles at Goofy Goober’s and Starbucks fall beverages, including Pumpkin Spice Lattes, at both cafes.

We’ve heard mixed reports from team members about additional Halloween food coming, but nothing further has been confirmed.

We’ll keep searching and update this guide if new offerings appear.

Halloween Merchandise and Hotel Decorations

The Universal Kids Resort Store carries seasonal merchandise, including Monster Tots and Universal Monsters items.

Select paid carnival games elsewhere in the park also feature Halloween plush prizes, including black cats and little vampires.

Inside Universal Kids Resort Hotel, you’ll find additional seasonal decorations, including a scarecrow photo opportunity, festive pillows, pumpkins and spooky trees at Curiosity Cafe.

You don’t have to be an overnight hotel guest to dine at Curiosity Cafe, making it another place to explore during your visit.

Is Halloween at Universal Kids Resort Worth It? Our Honest Thoughts

Yes! We think Halloween at Universal Kids Resort is an enjoyable addition to the park, especially for families with younger children.

The entertainment is fun, the activities are charming, and the colorful decorations create a welcoming seasonal atmosphere.

For a regional park designed specifically for younger guests, we think Universal has chosen an appropriate level of Halloween entertainment.

Our biggest disappointment isn’t necessarily what’s offered. It’s how the celebration has been introduced.

Rather than launching as one cohesive experience, additional decorations and activities have appeared throughout October. Families who visited earlier in the season missed experiences now available to later visitors.

We recognize this is the park’s first Halloween, and weather or other challenges may have contributed. But with the Universal name comes an expectation of thoughtful planning and polished execution.

What Could Universal Improve?

We see two areas where relatively simple changes could make a big difference.

More seasonal food: A handful of creative Halloween snacks, desserts and specialty drinks would help make the celebration feel more complete.

Better guest communication: This is perhaps our biggest concern. Universal needs a clear, accessible daily schedule showing all entertainment times, Trick for Treat hours and activity locations.

The current boards displaying upcoming performances are helpful, but families need to know all their options to plan their day.

We’ve heard guests express frustration about not knowing when experiences are happening, and some of the newest activities are easy to miss entirely.

A simple daily flyer, entrance board or clearly published online schedule could solve much of that confusion.

Our Verdict So Far

We’ve genuinely enjoyed what’s here. Nothing feels out of place for the park’s intended audience.

But the staggered rollout, limited seasonal food and lack of clear communication have left us wanting a little more.

If you’re already planning an October visit, we absolutely recommend enjoying the Halloween activities. They’re included with admission and add extra fun to your day.

We wouldn’t, however, plan an entire trip around Halloween alone.

And we’re not delivering our final verdict just yet. With several weeks remaining, we’re still watching to see whether Universal has more surprises planned.

Planning Your Visit?

Halloween activities are included with regular Universal Kids Resort admission.

You can check ticket prices through Undercover Tourist and explore our additional Family Quest Central guides for rides, height requirements, dining, family services and more.

Annual Passholders may also qualify for the Friends & Family ticket discount on eligible dates through October 16. See our separate discount guide for details and restrictions.

We’ll Keep Updating This Guide

Universal Kids Resort’s first Halloween continues to evolve, and we’ll keep reporting on new decorations, food, merchandise and entertainment as they appear.

For now, we think Universal has created a cute, playful celebration for its youngest guests. We just wish it had all come together a little more smoothly!
